The choir at St. Seraphim of Sarov church in Santa Rosa has released their premiere CD, entitled “Attend, O Heaven: Hymns from the Great Lent and Pascha.” This professionally recorded CD is almost 80 minutes long, with 32 different selections of Orthodox music moving chronologically from the pre-Lenten hymn “By the Waters of Babylon” to the Dismissal verse of Pascha: “And Unto Us.” It encompasses a variety of settings and styles: from Byzantine to Carpatho-Russian chant, and vocal ensembles: from duets to full choir. A majority of the music is in Znamenny Chant and is in English with the exception of 2 pieces in Slavonic.
